Away Meet - Black Sail YHA The two nights stay at the iconic Black Sail Hostel was enjoyed by five members despite the wet weather.
All five walked in the six miles from the Bowness Knott car park on a drizzly Sunday afternoon. Monday was forecast heavy rain, and it did. Mick added a new Wainwright route up Great Gable to his list, and the other four walked up Scarth Gap onto Haystacks. Then along the boundary fence in the wind, rain, and mist to Seavy Knott and back down ito the valley via Loft Beck. The afternoon was spent in the hostel with perhaps up to fifty Coast-to-Coast walkers calling in for shelter and a brew. Tuesday dawned not quite as wet, and the members returned to their cars and coffee in Cockermouth.
A great experience in a cosy place, with lots of promises to return. |

Norman and Jenny had a day on that fine hill Cadair Idris last weekend, and he says - The mist was slow to clear and we did the Minffordd circuit while it was misty on the tops and very windy. Lunch was taken in the stone hut at Penygadair next to the summit. Eventually the forecast clear sky came as we descended from Mynydd Moel. A great walk none-the-less. | |

Midweek Walk - High Newton to Windermere There was a good turn out for this walk led by Mike Walford. Meeting at Kendal bus station, the group caught the bus to High Newton and walked to Windermere via Gummers How, catching the bus back to Kendal. |
