Appetite Enhancer Walk and Annual Dinner

The annual dinner was proceeded as usual by Krysia's Appetite Enhancer Walk, and this year she led the group over 'Moor How and Hartbarrow. Needless to say, the weather was less than perfect.

The meal itself was held at the Eagle & Child in Staveley.

Mick picked a superb day for walk on the Yewdale fells. Below left are the Langdale fells, below right is in Tilberthwaite, and at the bottom a view of the Coniston fells.

Another day out from Mick Fox just before half term, this time to High Raise from Martindale old church.

The week before half term saw some snow arrive, but by half term it was melting away.
Right shows Swirral Edge with little snow on the ridge but with a good covering on the steep exit ramp.
Below left shows the view from Birkhouse Moor over to High Street, and below right the view of Red Tarn and Helvellyn.

High pressure continued to dominate much of the country at the end of the month, with Cumbria having the highest temperatures in the UK (12 degrees C) on some days! The snow that fell earlier in the month lingered to the end of the month, but was most evident on the east and north facing corries.
